TRAGIC LOSS

‘A huge loss’ as heartbreaking tributes paid for man, 30, killed in Co Donegal crash as family confirm funeral details

HEARTBREAKING tributes have been paid following the death of a young man killed in a road crash in Co Donegal over the weekend.

The man, 30, has been named as Caoilan Bushe from Letterbarrow.

Caoilan died suddenly following a two-vehicle collision on the N15 at Birchhill shortly after 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

The crash also claimed the life of another man, 27, while several other people were injured and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency services attended the scene, and both vehicles involved were examined by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Funeral arrangements have now been confirmed by the family.

His death notice reads: “It is with deep sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the death of Caoilan Bushe, Sallows, Selacis, Letterbarrow, Co Donegal, F94 RV04, age 30, suddenly, following a road traffic accident.”

The notice adds how he will be “loved and cherished” by all who knew him.

Caoilan’s family have asked for privacy at all times, including on the day of the funeral.

His funeral service will be held in the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Drimarone in Co Donegal on Wednesday at 1pm.

Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest in Cranny Road Cemetery in Frosses.

The family have also requested family flowers only.

Condolences poured in for the Donegal man, as the news of his passing “devastated” the community.

A pal said: “Very sad to learn of the tragic death of Caoilan. Got to know him over the last two years or so. A sound fella.

“Caught up with him in Letterkenny last weekend and had a good chat so it’s totally devastating to see this.”

A mother from Letterkenny shared: “Rest in peace beautiful boy, love and prayers to your heartbroken family.

“Like a brilliant beam of sunlight that lights up a room, gone too soon.”

One mourner said: “Heartfelt condolences to all of you on your huge loss. Words genuinely fail at a time like this.

“Ive no doubt Caoilan left ye with many a fun memory and those memories will help ye going forward. Rest in peace.”

Another wrote: “Deepest sympathy to all the Bushe and Maguire family during this very sad and difficult time. May Caoilan rest in peace.”

A third added: “Heartfelt sympathy to the Bushe family, Anita and friends on the tragic passing of Caoilan. May he rest in heavenly peace.”
